Osmar Romero is a cultural curator, DJ and producer based between Caracas and Los Angeles and the driving force behind El Marchante. He co-founded the project in 2015 as a response to distance, migration and the need to preserve sound as living memory. What began in Caracas has grown into an international platform dedicated to researching, curating and sharing Latin American and Caribbean music through vinyl, live events and cross-border collaborations.

Through his work with El Marchante, Osmar has brought these sound histories to stages such as the Hollywood Bowl and Grand Performances, touring across the United States and performing alongside artists including La Lom, Adrián Quesada, Juanes and Boogaloo Assassins. His work has also extended internationally, with presentations in Mexico City, Toronto and Bogotá, using music as a tool for dialogue and connection.

Osmar has led collaborations with institutions such as LA Phil, the University of California, the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center and The Music Center, as well as with record labels including Fania, Ansonia Records and Diamond West. Across all of his work, his focus remains consistent: honoring regional heritage, amplifying overlooked voices and using sound to explore identity, memory and movement across borders.
